Emergency First Aid at Work - Level 3

During this 1 day course, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations, including: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, choking, shock, wounds and bleeding and minor injuries.

Course Information

The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require all employers to make arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. This includes carrying out a risk assessment, appointing a suitable amount of first aiders and providing appropriate first aid training.

Intended Audience

The Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (QCF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, to provide first aid in a range of emergency first aid situations. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide basic first aid in voluntary and community activities.

First Aid at Work - Level 3

Over a 3 day period, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, including: assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, heart attacks, choking, head and spinal injuries, fractures, anaphylaxis and more.

The Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, specifically designed for those who are appointed to act as a first aider in their workplace. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide first aid in voluntary and community activities.

Emergency Paediatric First Aid - Level 3

During this 1 day course, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, including: managing an unresponsive infant or child, CPR, choking, seizures, external bleeding and more.

Course Information

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides Learners with the opportunity to develop the basic skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency paediatric first aid situations which could arise when looking after children.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification has been designed in-line with the current Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements and is ideal for:
Those who have gained a level 2 or 3 childcare qualification and have entered into an early years setting and wish to be included in the staff to child ratios to comply with the EYFS requirements.
Anyone who cares for infants and children, such as parents, guardians, grandparents or those who have an involvement with infants and children and want to learn key paediatric first aid skills. Newly qualified entrants to an early years setting who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30th June 2016, must also have either a full paediatric first aid or an emergency paediatric first aid certificate within three months of starting work.

Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator - Level 2

Over a half day period, Learners will develop the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations and safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Topics covered include: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, using an AED on both adults and children, combining AED use with CPR and more.

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides Learners with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in basic life support and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) usage in emergency situations.

Intended Audience

The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (QCF) qualification has been designed for those who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED.

Fire Safety Awareness - Level 1

Over a half day period, Learners will learn basic fire safety principles, including: causes of fires in the workplace, basic fire safety duties and responsibilities, principles of fire risk control, safe use of portable fire-fighting equipment and more.

Intended Audience

The Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness (QCF) qualification is designed for those who want to increase their awareness of fire safety in the workplace.

QA Level 2 Award in Working at Height (RQF)

During this comprehensive half day course, learners will develop a basic awareness of working at height, focusing on key principles such as: safety considerations, legal obligations, hierarchy of control measures, reporting procedures for defective equipment and much more.

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification has been specifically designed to provide learners with a greater awareness in the use of ladders, step ladders, harnesses and a variety of other equipment that is used when working at height.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 2 Award in Working at Height (RQF) is ideal for those who work, or are aspiring to work in environments that involve safe working at height, such as building and construction workers, agricultural workers, factory and warehouse workers, forestry workers and more.

Principles of Manual Handling - Level 2

Over a half day period, successful Learners will develop a greater awareness of manual handling, including: common manual handling injuries, the safe movement principles, theory of safe manual handling principles and manual handling equipment.

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides Learners with the opportunity to develop their understanding of the principles of safer manual handling.

Intended Audience

The Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling (QCF) qualification has been specifically designed for all employees to help raise their awareness of the risks associated with unsafe manual handling practices. It is also ideal for those who might have to carry out manual handling as part of their job such as handling deliveries, parcels and boxes.

Please note that this qualification does not include practical sessions. Those requiring practical training should undertake the Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling (QCF).

Health and Safety in the Workplace - Level 1,2,3

Level 1 – During this half day course, Learners will develop a basic knowledge of health and safety issues such as: hazards and risks in the workplace, workplace conditions that can affect health and safety, and the requirements for workplace procedures.

Level 2 – During this 1 day course, Learners will develop a greater understanding of health and safety issues, including: health and safety laws, risk assessments and risk control hierarchy, identifying and controlling risks from common workplace hazards and more.

Level 3 – During this course, Learners will cover a range of health and safety topics, including: understanding the requirements for health, safety and welfare in the workplace, legal requirements, the benefits of using a health and safety system and understanding the risks and control methods for common workplace hazards

QA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) has been designed for all employees working in different types of environments to help raise their awareness of health and safety in the workplace.

QA Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (QCF) qualification is ideal for all employees to raise their awareness of health and safety in the workplace.

Principles of Risk Assessment - Level 2,3

Level 2 – During this 1 day course, Learners will gain a basic introduction into the principles of risk assessment. Topics covered include: main causes of work-related fatalities, basic processes for undertaking a risk assessment, key terms associated with risk assessments, methods that can be used to prioritise risks and more.

Level 3 – During this 2 day course, Learners will develop their knowledge of risk assessment processes so that they can apply their knowledge and skills when completing risk assessments in the workplace. Topics covered include: the importance of health and safety in the workplace, the principles involved in risk assessment and the relationship between hazard and risk as part of an accident and ill health strategy.

Intended Audience

QA Level 2 Award in Principles of Risk Assessment (RQF) is ideal for anyone in a work environment.

QA Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (RQF) is ideal for those who have a responsibility for conducting risk assessments in low risk environments, such as supervisors and site managers. This qualification is also suitable for those who significantly contribute to the risk assessment process, e.g. team leaders and technicians.

Safe Moving and Handling - Level 2

During this 1 day course, Learners will learn the key principles of manual handling and how to apply these to their workplace. They will also practise a wide range of techniques, ensuring that they leave the course confident and proficient in moving and handling.

The law states that employers have a legal responsibility to provide adequate training for those who perform manual handling tasks in their day to day role. However, with incorrect manual handling causing over a third of workplace injuries, adequate training is not only a legal requirement, it is incredibly important for the safety of all staff.
